Lost Sitcom Pilots? Do these ever surface?

Hey everyone, I’m kinda new here but does anyone ever come across those sitcom pilots that never made it past episode one? I've heard about a couple from the late 90s and it's wild to think there's shows out there with like only a single episode existing in some network vault. I’m super curious to see what didn’t make the cut!

I think I saw someone post a Google Drive link to a few lost pilots a while back on here? Could've been on another forum tho. It's a crapshoot.

Lost pilots are basically unicorns of TV history. The pilot for Heat Vision and Jack, starring Jack Black and Owen Wilson, actually turned up. It's got a cult following now. There's also the US attempt at redoing The IT Crowd – got leaked online, and well, maybe it’s best some pilots stay lost.

The allure of the forbidden fruit, huh? Watching these can be like going on a bad date, you're never sure if you’re lucky it didn't continue.

From what I've seen, it's rare but not impossible. For example, the original US Coupling pilot is completely different from what was broadcast. A pal of mine got a copy after years of searching. Got to keep your ears to the ground, I guess.

Lost pilots have a weird niche following. Networks rarely release them but they sometimes leak out through those involved in production. A gem to look for is the notorious 1997 pilot Buddy's Bar. Only a few stills exist today, but it's a holy grail for sitcom pilot hunters.

I’ve been down that rabbit hole a few times ha. Sometimes they do surface on like YouTube or obscure media trading sites. Just gotta keep an eye out and sometimes you get lucky.
