For me, I remember watching a fake gameplay video called "Donkey Kong 64 - Official Gameplay!". It started out as a normal gameplay video, but at the very end, a creepy mask would appear and let out a loud scream. It ended with credits which only consisted of "A (something) Production" and "All Rights Reserved!". Sadly, it got deleted in 2013 and is lost forever.

I've chronicled a list of lost screamer vids over the years and this one rings a bell. The use of unsuspecting gameplay footage was a popular tactic. They weren't just low-effort jump scares; some had high production value, verging on short films. I'll sift through my notes and reach out to some fellow archivists. It's a long shot, but these relics sometimes resurface in the oddest ways.

That might be tough to track down. Lots of these old screamers have disappeared into the void, mostly due to platforms cleaning up content. I’ll dive into some archives and see if any collector might have grabbed it. Sometimes screen recordings are stored in the most unexpected places.

Oh man, that screamer video sounds super familiar! The DK64 bait-and-switch... Classic early internet prank. Wasn't there a bunch of these with different games? Pretty sure I noped out of fullscreen after getting burned a couple of times lol.

Anyone remember the commercial break screamers? Like, there was one that pretended to be an ad for kitchen cleaner and then BAM, zombie face in the camera. Back when we traded VHS tapes, those things were like myths. Never seen that one since.

There was this one screamer that had a story woven into it, some cursed video tale about watching your back. Looked like someone's home video, then this freaky face just popped out of nowhere. What made it super eerie was the lead up with the urban legend style narration. Searched for it recently and nada. Total bummer.

In terms of lost screamer videos, 'Doors of Horror' is a classic that comes to mind. It featured a series of increasingly unsettling doorways leading to the final scare. Collectors have been after the original for years since most copies have a lower quality and the last door's scare doesn't have the same impact. Another one I can think of is 'The Corridor's Whisper', pretty obscure, but it was a masterpiece of anticipation, leading up to a whisper that seemingly came from behind the viewer before the actual scream. That one seems to have vanished into the ether.
