All these people crying about their lost levels or 'original versions' of games. Chill out! The devs cut it for a reason, right? Maybe it SUCKED. Maybe it's lost because it was never meant to be found. Ever think about that? Haha! Seriously though, if anyone finds the 'Lunar Lander' level from Space Quest II hit me up. It's for research... for a friend...

You're right that not all cut content is a lost gem, but as an archivist, I'd argue the value lies in seeing the evolution of a game. Cut content can also show us alternate paths devs considered, and as a bonus, sometimes that content is pretty cool on its own. No lead on that Lunar Lander level, but it's exactly the kind of thing that fuels the passion for finding lost media.

Huh, I kinda side with the devs on this. I mean, if they thought something wasn't worth including, it probably wasn't that good – or could even mess with the game's flow. Do we really need every single piece of scrapped content? But yeah, hope your friend’s 'research' turns up something, for science or whatever.

idk, I get where you're coming from, but to me it feels like we're losing part of gaming history when these things stay lost. Also, consider the excitement of finding something that's like a legend among fans. That said, I haven’t seen anything about the Lunar Lander level, sorry mate.

It's a cultural treasure hunt, my friend. Finding these 'lost' game levels is just like digging up a rare comic book or an old film reel of an unreleased movie. Not about whether it 'sucks' or not, it's about preserving history and having a bit of fun. No news on Lunar Lander, but I'll keep an eye out.

Dev here, and I'm gonna say that's a pretty simplistic take. Sure, some content gets cut 'cause it's bad, but more often than not, it's due to time constraints, budget, or a change in vision. These 'lost' pieces are parts of the storytelling that can offer a lot to the fans. It's like a behind-the-scenes feature, it gives depth to the work we put in.

Sometimes those 'lost levels' are more about the history and what could've been, ya know? Like, it's not that we think they're gonna be the best levels ever, it's about seeing the full picture of development. Like a director's cut. But lol I totally get the irony in asking for the Lunar Lander level right after dissing the hunt for lost media.
