Honestly, some 'lost media' should stay lost...

Not to be that guy, but sometimes I think we're better off with some media staying lost. Like, ever think they're ‘lost’ for a reason? Maybe they're just awful and the world collectively decided to forget about them for the greater good. Everyone's obsessed with finding these old shows and games, but maybe, just maybe, they're lost because nobody cared about them in the first place.

Some media like 'The Star Wars Holiday Special' make a STRONG case for your point. But really, it's like telling horror stories around a campfire; the worse it is, the more fun you have ripping it to shreds.

I see where you're coming from, but I've always lived by 'don't knock it 'til you try it'. Some media is lost just because of poor luck or bad timing, not lack of quality.

Some of the best stuff I've ever watched were things considered 'trash' at the time. Taste is subjective, and plenty of things get appreciated years later. The Room, anyone? 😂

That's not really how it works. Lost media isn't always about the content being worthwhile. It's a cultural and digital archaeology thing. We're restoring pieces of history that tell us about different eras of human creativity and sociocultural conditions. Even 'terrible' media can provide insights and lessons for contemporary creators. Besides, one person's trash is another's treasure!

lol, some things should stay buried... like my high school photos. But seriously, if nobody cares, why even bother? Let's let the dead rest in peace. 🪦

Lost media's value isn't always in the content itself, some of it's real bad, yeah. But each piece is a part of history, it's about preserving the past, even the not-so-shiny parts.

I get your point, but isn't the search part of the fun? Even if the media is garbage, the hunt and the community coming together to find it is what it's all about imo.
