Beta tape curiosities - anyone got info on 'Midnight Drive'?

Picked up a whole bunch of Beta tapes from a thrift shop and there's one that's really intriguing - it's labeled 'Midnight Drive', and seems to be some low-budget indie film from the 80's. It's about a guy driving around at night and picking up strange characters, very surreal, almost Lynchian? Can't find a thing about it online - anyone got the scoop?

Omg, Beta tapes are such a blast from the past! 'Midnight Drive' sounds really intriguing. I just love the idea that there’s a film out there waiting to be rediscovered. It could be like uncovering a time capsule from the 80s indie scene!

Let's get to the bottom of this! Check the tape for any production company logos or credits. If there are names, a deep dive into the crew's history could yield results. Maybe one of them went on to do bigger things. Also, try screening the tape at a local indie film club meeting, might find a cinephile who recognizes it!

nice fanfic synopsis bro, but everybody knows that 'Midnight Drive' is just code for a boring family road trip video. watch it be footage of someone’s uncle bob and his RV escapades lmao

First time poster here, but this caught my eye! I'm curious if the characters or storyline seem to pay homage to another director or film which could lead to clues about its origins?

Honestly, it's probably some student film that never went anywhere. Lots of wannabe directors in the 80s made stuff like this. It's cool you're curious but I wouldn't get my hopes up about finding it online or it being anything special.

Fascinating! There were countless microbudget films in the 80s that slipped through the cracks of history. 'Midnight Drive' could be one of those lost gems. I recommend reaching out to film historians or professors specializing in the period. Also, try digitizing it and doing an image search for any scenes, might jog someone's memory on forums! Keep us updated!

i haven't heard of this one before but i collect weird tapes from thrift shops too. my best find was an old horror movie with scratchy audio that made it even creepier. always cool to find a new gem, good luck with your search dude

Whoa, 'Midnight Drive' sounds awesome! That era had such cool indie flicks. Super into anything Lynchian. Have you checked local film archives? Sometimes those indie films had such limited releases, only a few copies exist. I'd love to see it if you're up for sharing!
