unbeatable floor stain?

Spilled some red wine on my hardwood floor and it's just not coming off. I tried vinegar, baking soda paste... nothing! is it time to throw in the towel and call in a pro??

In my day, when we spilled red wine, we'd just pour white wine over it and let it soak up the red. Sounds crazy, I know, but sometimes it actually lightened the stain! Nowadays, though, people want quick fixes. Sand it, refinish it, and be done with it, they say.

Just paint over it, lol. But seriously, maybe just get someone to look at it before you do more damage. Professionals can be expensive but so can ruining your floor out of frustration.

Hey there! I avoid chemicals so I'm always looking for natural solutions. You could try making a paste with unbleached flour and hydrogen peroxide. Spread it over the stain and cover with plastic for a day or so. It's kind of like a gentle, natural bleach. Worked for me with a pesky pet stain! Good luck!

Just cover it with a rug and BAM! Problem solved. Outta sight, outta mind, right?

Ugh, hate when that happens. My buddy told me to use salt on wine stains right after the spill. Like, tons of it. Absorbs the wine before it stains. No clue if it actually works, never tried it. Might be useful for next time at least?

Professional floor guy here. Red wine is tough, not gonna sugarcoat it. Your floor likely needs a sand and refinish job to completely get rid of that stain. If the floor is sealed and the stain isn’t too deep, sometimes a chemical refinisher does the trick without full-on sanding. It melts the top layer of finish and takes some stains with it when you wipe it off. But honestly, call in a pro. DIY solutions might just damage the floor more if you’re not careful.

So you gotta act fast with red wine stains, but looks like that ship has sailed. You might still have a chance with an oxalic acid wood bleach, it's pretty good for tough stains. But honestly, you'll prob need to sand the area down and refinish it if you want it totally gone.

Had the same issue with a coffee spill once. Tried everything just like you did. I heard somewhere that hydrogen peroxide can work but you gotta be careful with it, might lighten the wood. Test it in a small hidden spot first maybe?
