Look, if it smells like burning rubber, 9 times outta 10 it's the belt. Flip the vacuum over, unscrew the cover, and check the situation. It's an easy fix and belts are cheap. While ur at it, give the rollers a good cleanup. Don't waste money on a repair shop for something you can handle in 15 minutes with just a screwdriver.

Make sure to check not just the belt but the whole brush roll area for anything that's caught. Rubber bands, string, and long hair can easily wind around and cause extra resistance that makes your vacuum struggle and overheats. Clipping away tangled debris can sometimes be an easy fix to that harsh smell.

It's not uncommon for vacuums to develop that burnt rubber scent when there's extra stress on the motor, often due to a worn-out belt. However, don't overlook the possibility of a failing motor either. If the belt looks fine, then it could be that the motor is overheating and might need professional attention.

The burnt rubber smell can definitely be a telltale sign that your vacuum's belt is on the fritz. If it ain't turning as smoothly or if you've got an obstruction, it's working overtime and that's what's producing the smell. Pop it open and take a gander at that belt, and while you're there, check the brush roll too. Hair and gunk can get real nasty in there and contribute to the problem.

hey, it might actually be the belt, especially if you smell something like burning rubber. Check if it's worn out or if there’s any hair stuck causing extra friction. sometimes things get tangled and cause the belt to heat up more than it should
