At a café and they have only ONE plug for the whole place

Just sat down to enjoy a latte and get some work done, battery at 20%. But there's literally ONE plug in this entire café??? And of course it's being hogged by someone who's laptop is fully charged already!! Am I supposed to just sit here and watch my laptop die? How does a place not have more plugs in 2023... 😤

Actually, it's not that bad an idea to limit plugs. Helps conserve energy and makes us more aware of our power usage. But yeah, I get the frustration when you actually NEED to charge. Maybe bring it up with the cafe owners? Could be they're willing to make a change.

Pro tip: Always carry a mini power strip. You can share it with someone already using the outlet, and they usually don't mind because it means they can keep their stuff plugged in too. Plus, you'll look like the hero of the cafe for a minute there.

That plug hogger is as bad as 'that guy' who takes up two parking spots. It's public charging etiquette to unplug when you're juiced up. Say something to them! Or maybe the staff can put up a polite sign reminding people to share the power love after charging.

Did you look under tables and benches? Sometimes they hide them in weird spots. If you've really only got the one, might be worth investing in a laptop with a longer battery life or like others said, get a power bank.

lol I feel this. I just make sure whichever spot I pick has a plug before sitting down. Saves me the internal rage and sadness of watching my laptop go dark. Also, maybe time your visits for when it's less crowded? Good luck, mate!

One plug? What is this, medieval times? Who designs a cafe in 2023 with one plug? Might as well call it an Amish hangout. You should just stand next to the person hogging the plug and cough loudly till they get uncomfortable and leave. 😒

Have you tried those portable battery packs? I carry one with me all the time for this kind of situation. Some are pretty compact and can charge a laptop at least once. Not a perfect solution, but it keeps you going for a few more hours. Also, if you complain to the management, they might actually consider installing more outlets.

Ugh, that's the worst. I've been there. You try to go out to change up the work scene and then no power... Might as well be back at home. They really should consider remote workers when setting up shop. Just bad business not to have more plugs.
