Moved into a new apartment yesterday. Guess what? There's a train track nearby that NO ONE mentioned. It's like living in a drum with a migraine. Trains every hour, all night long. How is this even legal?! My entire life's gonna be a series of naps now.

These kinds of noise problems are too common and often overlooked by city planners. Start a petition or join a local community group. When people band together, they can really bring about change. Fight for noise barriers or curfews on those train times!

Hey, I do soundproofing for a living, and you've got some options. You can try some thick curtains, bookcases against the walls, or even special acoustic panels to reduce the noise. If you own the place, double-glazed windows are a game-changer. It's gonna cost you, but it's worth it if you're planning to stay long-term.

I strongly suggest checking out your local noise ordinance laws. There might be some regulations about sound levels at night. If the train noises exceed these levels, you could have a case to complain or ask for rent reduction. Document the noise times & decibel levels if you can. Might help if you decide to take action.
