Recipe: Jellied Moose Nose

Okay guys, if you ever find yerself in possession of a moose nose, here's what ja do! Step 1: Harvest the nose, cut off at the base where the hair begins. Flip, remove lower jaw. Step 2: Boil it. Boil till hairs come off easily. Once de-haired, rinse and boil again. Step 3: Cut it into slices. Step 4: Onion + Garlic + Vinegar + Salt. Cook till soft. Step 5: Pack sliced moose nose in a loaf pan, pour broth over it. Step 6: Refrigerate. Slice and serve when it's jelly! Bon appetit!

Moose nose... 😢 Made me think of Mr. Snuffles, my hamster. He had a tiny pink nose... so cute... not in jelly though.

Look, it sounds weird to a lot of folks, but if you're miles deep into the Alaskan wilderness, a moose is a whole lotta food. Can't afford to waste any part of it, nose included. Respect the animal, use all what you can. Nice recipe, btw.

Honestly, only a post about cooking moose nose could make me feel better about my cooking skills. I might burn toast but at least I'm not simmering snout. 💀

From a foodie perspective this isn't just about the shock factor it's about savoring unique tastes and textures. The combination of texture from the nose and the flavor from the onion, garlic, and vinegar is surprisingly revolting yet intriguing. And the jelly part just sends this dish to a whole new level of 'unconventional'. I wouldn't be sharing this recipe at my next neighborhood potluck, but hey, to each their own.

Good old jellied nose, a classic! Another tip, guys - if the nose is kinda gamey, try adding some cloves and bay leaves when boiling. Gives it a nice, aromatic kick. Keep the chunks chunky though, the texture is half the fun!
