Quick help! - Dog got into the trash bin

My dog just got into the trash and I think he ate some of the chicken bones I threw out yesterday. I've heard those are really bad for dogs? He seems fine right now but I'm freaking out a bit. Should I rush him to the vet??

My dog did the same thing last year and it freaked me out. I got some solid advice to avoid this in the future – after you deal with the emergency, of course – like getting a dog-proof trash can. Might help prevent this kind of scare again!

Totally been there, it’s panic city. Call your vet and describe what happened. They'll probably want to see him just to play it safe. Chicken bones are no joke.

Seen dogs eat worse and be just fine. But gotta say, the cooked bones are tricky. I'd keep an eye out and if that doggo starts acting different or shows signs of pain, rush him to the vet. Better to catch things early.

Well, looks like your dog fancied himself a raccoon today, huh? Seriously though, it's vet time. Not trying to freak you out more but it's not worth the risk. Dogs and chicken bones are a big no-no.

My dog did this once and he was okay, but our vet told us we were lucky. Keep a close eye on your pup. Watch for vomiting, difficulty pooping, or lethargy. Those could be signs of a blockage. If you notice anything off, or just for peace of mind, a vet visit is a good idea.

Hi, Vet Tech here! Cooked chicken bones are dangerous because they can splinter and cause blockages or tear the intestines. Please don't wait - take your dog to the vet immediately for an x-ray to make sure he’s not at risk for a perforated digestive tract. Keep an eye on him for any signs of distress in the meantime.

Yikes, that's scary! Chicken bones can splinter and cause all sorts of issues internally. Even if he seems fine now, there could be problems you can't see. I'd call the vet ASAP, just to be on the safe side. Better safe than sorry IMO.
