Some discontinued 80s snacks

  1. Planters Cheez Balls - Exactly what it says on the tin. They were cheese balls made by a peanut company.
  2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pies - These were green pies with vanilla pudding filling. Sadly, both this and the original Pudding Pies are discontinued. Now we only have Fruit Pies.
  3. Fruit Wrinkles - Chewy fruity snacks shaped like an elder's wrinkles. What the fuck were they thinking? We liked it anyway.
  4. Peanut Butter Boppers - Nature Valley tried making a fun snack combining chocolate/graham cracker pieces with peanut butter. And it didn't do well. But we liked it.
  5. Hi-C Ecto Cooler - Who you gotta call? Juicebusters!
  6. Smurf Berry Crunch - A cereal inspired by the Smurfs.
  7. Smurf - Chef Boyardee's attempt at making meals fun with The Smurfs.

Smurf Berry Crunch... let's pour one out for all the colorful cereals we've lost. The box art alone was a trip, Smurfs everywhere. No one does it like that anymore, now it's all about bran and grains. Some collectors pay good money for sealed boxes of these retro cereals, believe it or not. If only I still had my stash...

The 80's, when taste buds went on an adventure and health concerns took a back seat. Those Ecto Coolers were lit. I heard some places sold them at like 10x the price when they were discontinued. Collectors and nostalgic peeps always fall for it, heh.

Fruit Wrinkles - 'What the fuck were they thinking?' About sums it up, haha. Seriously, the 80s were wild with the designs. Kinda wish I could try em just to see how bad they were. Smurf pasta though? That's a no from me dawg. Who mixes blue creatures and Italian food? Wack.

smurf chef boyardee tho 😂😂 iconically bizarre but why not bring it back, like, everything is so 'safe' these days, would be fun to see it on shelves just to shake up the monotonous 'modern' offerings, anyone else miss the wild side of snackland?

Gotta chime in on the Peanut Butter Boppers, I used to work in the snack industry and from what I've heard, PB Boppers suffered from weird marketing decisions. It had potential! The blend of textures and flavors could've been a hit today if they'd survived the snack wars of the late 80s. Miss those the most.

Oh wow, you're unlocking some core memories here. Fruit Wrinkles were underrated. They were strangely shaped but didn't stop us, right? And who else thinks Smurf Berry Crunch would make a killing if they brought it back? There's this huge wave of nostalgia now, perfect time for a comeback!

Dude, the TMNT pies... they were the bomb! I'd trade my lunch away just for one of those things. Even the crust had this sweet glaze on it. Green ooze, but make it yummy! RIP rad snacks. 🍕🐢

Man, this list hits me hard. I still remember the unique tang of Planters Cheez Balls. Those were the days when snacks weren't health-crazed and just went for bold flavor. Everything now seems like a weak echo of the past. And the Hi-C Ecto Cooler...didn't they bring it back for a hot minute when the new Ghostbusters movie came out a few years back?
