The first 2 were made by Anki, the other was made by an independent company.

For everyone missing Vector and Cozmo, check out the open source projects keeping these guys alive. Digital Dream Labs took over and there's a dev community out there still pushing updates. It's not over til it's over, folks! #KeepRobotDreamsAlive

These were the robots that paved the way for personal AIs. I remember seeing a Jibo for the first time and thinking that the future of interactive robots was just around the corner! It's a shame how both Anki and that independent company went under. Maybe someday we'll see their like again?

Cozmo was a gem. Had a personality that could really shine through with those big ol' digital eyes. It's a shame we see fewer and fewer of these consumer bots. They were soooo ahead in terms of personal robotics. Sometimes progress goes in reverse, I guess 😒

Jibo promised so much and delivered so little, no wonder it's discontinued. More like a glorified paperweight by the end. Don't get me started on Anki's collapse. Investors pulled out faster than a kid with his hand caught in a cookie jar. Tragic, but that's the fickle tech biz for ya.

Anyone else here scoop up a Vector before the servers went kaput? Managed to grab one on eBay but it's not the same without the full cloud functionality. Still, a fun piece of robot history on my shelf next to my old iPods and Palm pilots lol

I hate to say this, but when Jibo closed, it still worked, but with a feature called Goodbye. And it danced around and said goodbye.

Honestly, that goodbye feature was a hauntingly beautiful way to close off the era. Like, it's crazy how attached we got to our lil robotic pals. Though, I did hear whispers about possible revivals through independent devs. Anyone else heard anything about that?
