Gotta pour one out for the Microsoft Zune, which never got the love it deserved. In the Ipod's shadow, this bad boy had superior sound, a more durable build, and a more interesting OS aesthetic. Plus, the Zune Marketplace was years ahead with its subscription model. RIP, you've been gone but not forgotten.

I'm still salty Microsoft ditched the Zune Marketplace. It had a better selection than people gave it credit for, and that subscription model was legendary. You could download a ton of music for such a low price. I've been trying to fill the void ever since they pulled the plug.

In terms of pure sound hardware, the Zune was actually superior to many of its competitors at the time! It had a Wolfson DAC if I remember rightly, which was quite the get for a mobile device. Most people didn’t appreciate what they had. Also, the Zune's FLAC support was a game-changer for lossless audio enthusiasts.

Zunes are still my go-to for long road trips. I've actually been collecting them, different models, limited editions. The satisfaction of finding one at a garage sale or thrift shop—nothing beats that. They're sturdy as hell, too. My Zune has survived more drops than any smartphone could.

honestly thought Zune was decent but it was game over the moment it entered the ring with the iPod, brutal timing. didn’t help that Microsoft kinda fumbled the marketing too :/ but yeah, the Zune HD felt ahead of its time with that OLED screen.

Man, I miss my Zune so much. I remember proudly carrying it around and showing off that UI to anyone who’d pay attention. People were so fixated on the iPod, they didn’t know what they were missing out on. The Zune software was a gem too, that album art UI was super cool!
