Still can't believe they discontinued Altoids Sours. Anyone else missing that sharp hit you get right on the sides of your tongue with the first pop of a citrus Altoid? No other sour candy matches up. They had the perfect balance of sour and sweet, and the tins were prime collectibles. I've got a cupboard full of candies from all over the world, but none fills the hole left by Altoids Sours. If anyone's got a DIY recipe or a candy that comes close, hit me up!

I've been experimenting with homemade sour candy recipes and I’m getting close to that Altoids Sours experience. It’s all about balancing the citric acid with sweetness. If you're interested I can share some tips on getting the texture right with a sugar work technique.

They were the GOAT of sour candies. Hands down. I still don't get why they'd discontinue something so loved. My conspiracy theory is that they're hoarding them somewhere, waiting to drive us all mad. Jokes aside, nothing comes close. Though Warheads come close to that sour blast but the flavor's off.

I’m in the exact same boat, my friend. Since Altoids Sours vanished, I've been on a quest to fill that void. Check out 'Sour Shockers' if you can find them, they have a decent kick to them. Still, they’re no Altoids Sours. The hunt continues...

Ok, so what I've done is try a mixture of citric acid and powdered sugar to get that sour kick, coat it over some hard candy that’s been bashed up a little. It’s not the same, but it’s a good stopgap. Also added a touch of lemon zest powder for that citrusy zing. Hit me up if you want the full recipe!
