Does anyone else remember Crystal Pepsi? Now that was a fantastic drink! Clear, pure, and not a hint of today's artificial nonsense. Caught me off-guard when I heard they were bringing it back in 2016, only for a brief moment though. Much prefer the original from the 90s. Miss those simpler times.

Crystal Pepsi is a fascinating example of product innovation and marketing from a scientific perspective. What PepsiCo did was remove the caramel color to make a clear cola and marketed it as a 'pure, modern' alternative to regular colas.
However, the taste didn't resonate with everyone. If you recall, there was a fruity under-note, different from the caramel sweetness common in dark colas. I think this might have contributed to the mixed reactions.
As for the re-launch in 2016, I wasn't surprised by its limited run. With the strong competition and established preferences in the soft drinks market, such novelties are often short-lived.

As an avid soda enthusiast, can't help but marvel at the audacity of the Crystal Pepsi concept - clear cola, ha!
Still, gotta say, it had its charm. Wasn't the most sophisticated of drinks, but there's something to be said about its freshness, the unexpectedly light carbonation. There was a sense of novelty, innit? Like, you're expecting the regular cola flavor, but it hits you with this subtly different taste. Not everyone's cup of tea, but sure was mine! 💁♂️
The reboot didn't really recapture the original's appeal, but hey, at least they tried. Probs more about market nostalgia than the actual drink flavor, y'know?
