Back in 2002, Pepsi came up with a wild idea called Pepsi Blue. It was literally a blue cola, and it tasted nothing like the actual stuff, it tasted more like a blueberry and raspberry mix.
Pepsi made this in response to Vanilla Coke, but it wasn't all too well received - guess the idea of drinking blue liquid that tastes like fizzy candy was a bit too wild for most people. Heck, it was so intimidating I remember that you could find it discounted everywhere, like they just wanted to get rid of it.
It sadly only lasted till 2004, while there were cult followers they weren't enough to help the quenching thirst of Pepsi blue stay afloat. Personally, I quite liked it, but it has been years since I tasted it the last time.
Anybody else here who misses the blue monstrosity? We need a sugar-fueled revolution to bring this cult classic back!

Some Filipino said that he remembers this buying in the Philippines where it still exists, and it made his tongue and lips blue.

Pepsi Blue wasn't that bad. I remember trying it out as a kid, mainly because I was drawn to the crazy color. Wasn't my favorite in terms of taste, I still prefer plain ol' Pepsi, but it was a fun gimmick. Also, if by 'tongue and lips blue' means it makes a great Instagrammable moment, then sign me up for the next shipment from the Philippines!

Interestingly, a lot of discontinued products find life in other markets. In fact, just because something was discontinued in one country doesn't mean it was discontinued everywhere. In many cases, it's more about local preferences. If it's still available in the Philippines, then it just goes to show how varied personal tastes can be!

It's interesting to think about why Pepsi Blue might not have sustained the interest of consumers. Perhaps it was too radical a departure from traditional cola flavors. Or maybe the bright blue color was a barrier for many. Either way, it remains one of the more fascinating blips in the history of carbonated soft drinks.

Oh man, Pepsi Blue. That takes me back. I won't lie, it was weird at first, drinking blue cola, but the taste was surprisingly addictive. I swear soda companies don't make them like they used to anymore. Pepsi Blue was truly unique - a shame it didn't last.
