Marathon bar

Not the Snickers one, but the braided caramel one from 1973 to 1981.

Ugh, I keep seeing people reminisce about the Marathon Bar. As a candy maker, it's got me thinking... what would it take to bring something like this back, but with a modern twist? Any ideas, folks?

Interesting fact – the Marathon Bar was 8 inches of caramel covered in chocolate and sold in a ruler-like wrapper showing that it was as long as it claimed to be. It was discontinued by Mars due to not being profitable enough due to its low price and the high cost of its production. Pity, because it was a unique concept and beloved by many.

Marathon bar? Nah, I'm here for the discontinued shampoo talk. Got some real horror stories about dandruff since they stopped making Selsun Blue Moisturizing. A candy bar ain't the end of the world. 🍫🚫🤷‍♂️

You know, across the pond we've got something called a Curly Wurly that's pretty close. It's caramel, braided, and covered in chocolate. Best part - they're still making 'em.

Hey, I appreciate your post here, friend. Do you by any chance have a wrapper of the Marathon bar? It's one of the rare ones in my collection, which traces the evolution of candy wrapper designs. I've got an almost complete set from the 70s but the Marathon bar eludes me. Gimme a DM if you've got the goods, yeah?

Oh boy, does the Marathon bar bring back memories! I remember getting my teeth stuck in the braided caramel and the fun of untangling it. They just don't make candy like that anymore, do they? I can almost taste it now. It was like a sugary, sticky adventure in every bit.

God, I miss Marathon bars... They were the best. Life was simpler then.
