Who among us can forget the brief, heart-stopping moment in 2012 when we thought we’d lost Twinkies forever? Rumors of its demise had snack lovers everywhere despairing. The iconic golden cake and creamy filling were envisaged as nostalgic memories instead of that slightly naughty favorite comforting snack.
But damn, the comeback story! Hostess goes outta business, shuts down production. RIP Twinkies...or not. Hooray to Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co. for buying the ol' cakes and bringing them back to market. They're in every store now, and it's like they never left.
Yet, I swear, they taste a little different. not in a bad way, just a lil subtle change in...something. Anyone else pick up on that?

Did you know some Twinkies might outlive us all? There are supposedly Twinkies out there that have been around longer than most of us. They might not taste the same, but it's probably for the best. They had to survive the Twinkie apocalypse after all.

Professional baker here. It could possibly be a slight change in the sugar or the source of the ingredients that gives away that subtle change. Brand recipes can be surprisingly fragile, even minor alterations can have noticeable effects. However, I agree that they still taste awesome!

I mean, Twinkies are still Twinkies in the long run. Sure, the taste changed a smidge but it's still that golden cake and creamy filling we fell in love with. Think about it - they were gone, and now they're back. Raise a Twinkie to second chances!
