Cut Costs, Not Experiences: My Top 5 Tips

Nomads gotta save where they can, right? Here's how I manage my budget:

  1. Accommodation: Hostels or Airbnb with kitchen access. Cook your meals.
  2. Transportation: Walk, rent bikes, or use local buses instead of taxis.
  3. Flights: Use Skyscanner or Google Flights for crazy deals.
  4. Earn points: Travel credit cards. Those points stack up for freebies!
  5. Local SIMs: Much cheaper for data than most travel plans.

Share your tips below, let's help each other out!

Local SIMs are a game changer, completely agree. But also look into international eSIM plans if you're constantly on the move. Some good ones offer data in a ton of countries for one price, so no need to switch SIM cards all the time.

or you can just hitchhike everywhere and eat instant noodles, that's what real travelers do 😆

If you're gonna cook in your Airbnb, hit the local markets for fresh produce. It's way cheaper and you'll get to try some exotic stuff. Also, pro tip: use a VPN for booking flights. Sometimes you get better prices if the booking site thinks you're in a different country.

Hey guys, new to the nomad life here. How do you deal with language barriers when using local buses? Seems intimidating.

Good list but kinda basic tbh. Anyone serious about cutting costs while traveling needs to look into travel hacking. There’s a whole community dedicated to maximizing those credit card points beyond what any normal travel tips post will tell you. Anyone not doing this is leaving free money on the table.

I've been on the road for 5 years now and your advice is spot on. But don't forget about workspaces. Instead of pricey co-working spaces, use cafés or public libraries. Oh, and house sitting! It can cut down accommodation costs to almost zero and you get to stay in some amazing places.

Love the tips! One thing I'd add: always ask locals for the best and cheapest places to eat. You get to save money and avoid tourist traps, plus you usually end up with some amazing food stories!
