The '90% done' Myth

You know that saying 'the last 10% takes 90% of the time'? Never been more true than for this app I’ve been working on. I swear it's been 'nearly done' for the last two years. The finish line keeps moving. If I had a dollar for every 'final' tweak, I'd be out of this hell and on a beach somewhere.

As a person who's dabbled in crafting code and meditating on mountains, here's a thought: the app is never finished, only released. Learn to let go. If it's mostly functional, get it out there. Feedback from real users beats agonizing over every possible scenario in your head. Peace, and good coding.

Hey, maybe you just need more features? Kidding...unless? But seriously, consider freezing new adds and just focus on what you've got. Otherwise, you'll be tweaking til the end of time.

2 years for the last 10%? Maybe time to admit the app’s beating you. Just push it out the door lol. Or are you trying to achieve 'Duke Nukem Forever' status?

Yeah, that sounds about right. It's like you're Sisyphus but instead of a boulder, it's your codebase. The finish line is all about user satisfaction, and that's a moving target my friend. Remember to take breaks, avoid burnout, and back your code up!

Embrace The Agile Way! It's all about iterative progress, open-ended timelines, and expecting changes. Scope creep is the real enemy here. Protect your sanity, apply agile principles, and negotiate the importance of new 'must-have' features rigorously.

Honestly, as a user, I appreciate those 'final' tweaks. Might be frustrating for you but for us, it's the difference between an okay experience and a mind-blowing one. Just don't drive yourself crazy chasing perfection, it's a mirage lol

Ugh, tell me about it. Just when you think you're out, the little bugs pull you back in! Been thru this grind with my last project. Feels like software development is 1% 'Eureka!' moments and 99% 'wait, that's not how it's supposed to work' moments lol

Oh man, I feel this so much. Collective wisdom says the last 10% is really about polishing, bug fixing, and tackling unforeseen issues. It truly can swamp the dev timeline. Take solace in the fact that it's the stage where good apps are differentiated from great ones. Hang in there!
