I was into tech start-ups before I switched to film. You think movies are bad? Try tech. At least with films, scripts don't become obsolete in a year. I’ve seen platforms change so much, entire projects become irrelevant before they even launch. Makes dev hell in film look like a vacation.

Writing scripts is my side hustle. Sold one that was sooo close to getting made. Had a director, an up-and-coming star, but then the production company went under. Now my baby sits in a vault, gathering dust. Every now and then I send out feelers, but it’s tough, you know?

I directed commercials for the longest, had this pitch for a feature film. It was a hit at every meeting, but the execs never pulled the trigger. Now, every year, I see a new show or movie with bits of my original pitch. That's Hollywood for ya, ideas are cheap, but nobody wants to risk making them.

Been in the business for a while now, let me tell ya, Development Hell is like the Bermuda Triangle for scripts. Got one that's been in limbo for over 15 years. Star attached to it went from unknown to A-lister to 'retro' in that time. Every couple of years we get a nibble from a studio or a streamer, but no bites. It's all about timing, market trends, and a good measure of sheer, dumb luck.

Dude, I had this indie film idea back in college. Script was tight, crew was hyped, but funding? Non-existent. Shot some scenes on a shoestring budget, then our lead actor moved away for a 'real job' and it all fell apart. Had to shelve the project. Still think about finishing it someday.
