It was just announced that Haven Studios (a recently launched gaming studio) and Sony would be making a big AAA game to compete with Payday. Called FAIRGAME$, the game had a teaser that didn't include actual game footage, and I remember seeing it. The game focused on robbing, and I was expected to see a release date. Instead, we've got...drumroll...no release date. I hope the AAA game might see the light of day very soon.

I think Haven's playing it smart. Better to go silent and drop a bombshell of a game than talk big and stumble like so many others. The silence can be Haven crafting their master plan behind the curtains. Here's to hoping FAIRGAME$ doesn't end up as another cautionary tale.

Let's be real, 'soon' in game development time translates to 'whatever, see you in a couple years...maybe'. The amount of vaporware in this industry is too high. Not getting my hopes up for this one till someone actually plays a decent beta.

Remember No Man's Sky? Total trainwreck at launch, but look at it now. I'm rooting for Haven Studios. Yeah, the silence sucks, but maybe it's all for the best. Plus, Sony backing them means they got resources right? Cautiously optimistic here.

Working in game dev here. Guys, 'development hell' is more common than you think. Just look at the number of delayed games last year alone. Having no release date yet might actually be a good sign that they're committed to quality over hitting a deadline. That being said, transparency with the community would be great. A little update, some dev diaries, or snippets from the game wouldn't hurt to keep the fans engaged and the hype alive, right?

First time I'm hearing about FAIRGAME$. The concept sounds cool, robbing like Payday? Sign me up! I'm gonna stay optimistic and give Haven the benefit of the doubt. They're newcomers after all, maybe they just wanna make sure it's perfect before giving us a date.
