Found this awful butter at a Chinese grocery store

I have a butter I found on a grocery store today in Shanghai. It's called: "Book, I am your butter" and actually tasted gross. Even my friends didn't want to eat this shit.

UPDATE: Threw the whole butter away. Now it's good!

I've heard of bad translations leading to some hilarious product names, but 'Book, I am your butter' takes the cake... or should I say toast? Looks like a serious case of lost in translation. Would've been a good piece for the kitchen shelf, just for the laughs and the weirdness factor.

Was this butter substitute dairy-free or something? Sometimes those alternative spreads can have weird aftertastes depending on what they put in it. Shame it was nasty; there are some good ones out there.

Well, on the bright side, at least now you can say 'been there, tasted that, and lived to tell the tale.' Sounds like the kinda stuff that becomes a meme. Book Butter Challenge, anyone? 🤢📚

You get what you pay for with these off-brands, my friend. Stick to the real deal if you want quality. The name alone is a red flag for a culinary disaster. Can't say I'm surprised it ended up in the trash. Next time, go for the genuine article!

Seeing off-brands like 'Book, I am your butter' is one of the reasons I love shopping at local foreign markets. You never know what treasures you'll find. Too bad it was a miss on the flavor, but at least it gave you and your friends a good laugh. I'd love to see a picture of the wrapping if you took one before the great butter toss!

lol 'Book, I am your butter' sounds like the off-brand Star Wars line Yoda never said 😂 sorry it tasted bad, but damn, that's a collector's item in the weird groceries world!

It references the quote "Luke, I am your father"

I'm just stuck on the fact someone out there in marketing was like yes, this is the one, Star Wars themed butter - that's gonna sell. 😅 Iconic movie lines are sacred, man. Don't mess with the classics... especially if your product is below par. Could've been a collectible if it actually tasted good lol.

Could've been a weird oil they used or maybe some odd preservative? I've had some strange 'off-brand' experiences myself, but never with butter. Pro tip: if you're trying new stuff, maybe just get a small portion first. Save yourself the trouble (and the cash) if it's crap.

Speaking of taste, wonder what made it so bad 🤢 Was it like, expired or just a funky flavor they thought was gonna be a hit? Either way, RIP 'Book, I am your butter'. You won't be missed lol.

haha they totally butchered the line tho! It's actually 'No, I am your father' from Empire Strikes Back. But gotta say ripping off star wars to sell butter is next level 😂
