Bathroom door handle - a hygiene disaster

Just used a restroom at a mall and who the heck designs a bathroom door that you gotta touch the handle to get out AFTER washing hands? seriously, yuck. isn't the whole point to have clean hands, not touch what everyone else did post-bathroom yikes!

So true, hate those handles. Hopefully, more awareness means this changes soon. Thumbs up for the push doors!

I swear I think about this every dang time I’m in a public restroom. Like hello??? We just got rid of germs only to pick up everyone else’s! No thanks!

From a medical standpoint, bathroom doors like that are a hotbed for germs. Hospitals often have doors you can open with your foot, or better yet, no doors at all in the exit path of restrooms. It is critical for public health that design catches up with hygiene best practices!

Here's a hack — I always use a paper towel to grab the handle. If there are no paper towels, extra TP is the next best thing. Not ideal, but works in a pinch!

So, here’s the thing, there are building codes and stuff that sometimes makes it hard to avoid handles. BUT! There are solutions like the arm-grab or the foot thingy that lets you open the door without hands. It’s just that some places cheap out or don’t think it through.

This is my worst nightmare!!! Paper towels are a lifesaver, I never touch the handle directly. Sometimes I wait for someone else to open the door or use my sleeve, but the designers really need 2 think about hygiene more!

Ugh, I feel this. It’s like, why bother washing if you got to manhandle the grubby handle right after? Should start a petition for those foot pull things or just yeet the door out tbh.
