A website's worst user experience

Okay, we all hate pop-ups but hear me out. Visiting this recipe blog, not only I am bombarded with subscribe pleas, but there's a video that follows you as you scroll AND you cannot pause it? That's how you make sure I never visit your site again. Crappy design at its finest – destroys usability completely.

Recipe sites are just wild with the ads these days. smh. someone send me a chill playlist, a good food blog w/o the nonsense, and a cup of tea. I'm done with these shenanigans.

Here's a tip: many browser extensions can stop autoplay videos and block pop-ups. Something like uBlock Origin or NoScript should do the trick. You can usually whitelist sites you support later on.

Is there any way to block those kinds of pop-ups and videos? They make browsing so nerve-wracking. I just want to read in peace.

I KNOW RIGHT!! Whoever thinks these designs are a good idea should be banned from the internet. It’s 2023, and we still can’t have a smooth browsing experience without having to deal with this crap 😤

Seriously, it's like you need to solve a puzzle before you can even start cooking. Subscribing? No thanks, I'm out. But hey, I found this awesome recipe app with no ads or pop-ups. A total game-changer!

This trend with aggressive modals and autoplay content hurts the UX so much. There's a line between engaging your audience and just driving them away. Rule of thumb for designers: Allow the user to control their experience. When you take that away, you basically shoot yourself in the foot.
