Why the heck is this text upside down??

Just ate at this new local restaurant and the menu was a disaster. The frickin' appetizers were listed at the bottom and desserts at the top, who does that?? Waiter said it's 'artistic'. FML.

This kind of contrarian design can sometimes work if it's REALLY well-executed. This clearly...was not one of those times. Just highlights the importance of user experience above 'artistic' displays.

Found it more irritating that you used 'frickin'' and 'FML' in the same sentence. One is trying too hard to be clean, the other is...not.

I approve of this menu! Desserts should always be on top. Some folks like me like to have their dessert first. But probably not their intention, just crappy design. XD

Ok but the big question, how was the food tho?

As a fan of modern art, I kinda get what they might have aimed for. They wanted to shake things up, challenge the norm. Not saying it works, but I see the intention there.

Always been a silent viewer in this sub but this post is just too weird to not comment on. Why flip the menu upside down? So pointless.

Design architect here.

This is a classical case of confusion between creativity and usability. The creator was probably striving for uniqueness, but failed to understand that design is primarily about functionality and ease of use. In an attempt to stand out, they compromised on the user-friendly aspect.

Designing an intuitive user flow is an art as well as a science. Menus, be it for a website or a restaurant, are mostly expected to be top-down information-based design. Start with appetizers, move onto mains and end with desserts and beverages. This flow is intuitive as it follows the order of a meal.

By reversing the order, they've not only disrupted the flow, but also the expectations of the customers. So instead of appreciating the 'artistic' menu, customers are put off by the confusion. A poor design choice, indeed.

That's the weirdest menu design I've ever heard of. They probably thought it's innovating but honestly, it just sounds confusing. And 'artistic', really? lol.
