The greatest MMORPG that never was

Remember Project Titan? That was gonna be Blizzard's next big thing after WoW, right? Spent almost a decade in development and all we got was Overwatch. Which, no offense, is nice but it ain't no MMORPG. Titan was supposed to redefine the genre with a new kind of social experience. Some say parts of it got reworked into other games but man, what could’ve been. Just imagining logging into that world every night... what a dream. It just sucks we'll never see what the real vision was.

Honestly, every time I see someone get all nostalgic about Project Titan I just think y'all are setting yourselves up for disappointment. How many 'could-have-beens' have we seen in gaming? Too many to count. Sucks, sure, but nothing new under the sun. Not every big idea makes it and that’s just the hard truth.

Overwatch being the remains of Titan still feels like I got some of the cake, even if it’s not the whole thing. Yeah, I wanted that MMO, but at least we got something fun out of it, ya know? Also makes me wonder what other games out there started as something else entirely.

What really gets me are the stories we'll never hear, the characters, worlds, and lore that were conceived and never shared. Overwatch hints at a rich background, and to think there was a WHOLE MMO worth of that just makes me sigh. That's the real tragedy for me—the untold epic tales that never saw the light of day.

Still holding onto that tiny glimmer of hope that Blizzard will revive Titan's concepts in another form someday. With how many reboots we're seeing these days, can't rule it out, right? Keep the dream alive, folks!

Overwatch is overrated trash and so was Titan probably. Don't kid yourselves thinking it was gonna be some groundbreaking stuff. LOL.

It's so fascinating to see the behind-the-scenes of these big projects. From what I've heard, Project Titan collapsed under its own weight. They were too ambitious, even for a titan like Blizzard. They wanted to blend FPS elements with MMO structures and even life simulation. It's a bummer the original vision got scrapped, but at least some of the core ideas lived on in Overwatch and possibly influenced other games in the industry. Plus, the lessons learned from a failed project like that usually drive innovation in later titles.

Yeah, Project Titan was hyped to the moon and back. Still hurts to think about what it could've been. WoW set the bar so high, and Titan was like this mythical promise to surpass everything we knew about MMOs. Sometimes I fantasize about how it would be logging into such a game and just lose track of time. What a colossal RIP.
