Game Canceled after 4yrs in Dev - Can't believe it

Yo, just found out Shadows of Mars got axed after being in development hell for like, forever. Looked promising with all that Martian colonization theme, but devs just dropped a post on their blog saying they can't continue. Something about budget issues and creative differences. I'm so done with getting hyped for games that vanish. It's like you follow all the updates, defend it on forums and boom it’s gone. Real kick in the teeth, man.

That's rough! Any word on what the creative differences were? Sometimes that info leads to the most interesting stories. Makes you wonder what could’ve been if the team had the resources they needed. Sigh, the gaming industry can be brutal.

Aww seriously?! This is why I stick to retro games - they actually exist 🙄 New games seem to just live in 'the upcoming' list forever.

From a dev's perspective, it's sometimes an unavoidable situation. Creative differences and budget issues are the tip of the iceberg. There are usually layers of complications in such projects. Still, it's a hard pill to swallow for everyone who put their soul into it, including fans. Always a learning experience though. Curious to see where the talent from Shadows of Mars surfaces next.

lol another one bites the dust. Maybe it's for the best. Mars is overrated anyways. 4yrs and no game? Sounds like someone couldn't handle the heat! xD

I know that feel, but hang in there, man. Sometimes cancelled projects make a comeback in one form or another. Maybe the devs can reboot it later or elements might surface in a new title. Keep the faith!

That's a bummer, was following the dev blog closely. The concept art was just amazing. Any chance they might release the assets or what they had for the community to pick up? I've seen it happen before, it's a way to keep the dream alive at least.

And hey, might not mean much, but shoutout to the devs for making the tough call and being transparent about it. Not easy to pull the plug on your own project.

Here's a pro tip: never get hyped until the game's loading on your screen. Saves you the headache. Seen too many 'promising' games crash and burn. It’s all smoke and mirrors till it ain't.

Dude, I feel your pain. Was so looking forward to building my own Martian base. RIP Shadows of Mars. Heartbreaking to see such passion projects get shelved. Imagine the developers tho, 4 years is a massive chunk of your life. Just hope the devs get to work on something new and exciting soon, they gotta have mad skills after tackling a project this ambitious.
