Hey, I'm new here but so fascinated by all these could-have-beens. Did any of these games ever leak in some form? Bet there's a prototype of at least one floating around somewhere.

Mario Artist could’ve been the gateway for so many young creatives. It was basically gonna be a full suite of creative tools: 3D modeling, painting, animation... Think about the indie game scene if more kids grew up with that instead of just Mario Paint.

Super Mario 64 2 hurts my heart to this day. The first one was a game-changer, and the thought that there might have been a sequel on the 64DD... that's the biggest loss by far. How could Nintendo tease us like that?!

lol all those games probably sucked anyway 64DD was a flop for a reason. We got the good ones on cartridge, who cares about the rest 😂

CatRoots looked like such a cool concept, you know? A fantasy RPG with cats! Why don't we have more games with cats!

Ah, the N64DD — the playground of cancelled dreams. Did y'all know that Cabbage was being worked on by the creators of Pokemon? It was gonna push the DD's disk-save capabilities to the limit with real-time growing mechanics. Players were supposed to nurture creatures with unique AI, kinda like a more complex Tamagotchi. Wish we could've seen that!

Not a day goes by I don't think about Mother 3 on the 64DD and what could have been. I mean we got it on GBA eventually, but imagine the depth it could've had with the DD's capabilities! The prototype pics still make me dream...

Man, Cabbage always looked so weird and interesting. Still bitter we never got to see what that game could've been. Nintendo experimented so much during that era, it's a shame so many projects got axed!
