Every time there is a 'critical' printer update, it BREAKS more than it fixes. Latest update turned my reliable printer into a glorified paperweight. Why?? Just so I'll be tempted to buy a new one? Not playing that game!

Haha, you think this is bad, you should've seen the updates we had to deal with in the '90s. But yeah, today's printers don't last as long as they should, planned obsolescence at its finest. Hang on to an older printer model as long as you can, they're tanks compared to the new ones.

From an IT perspective, it's wildly known that printer updates are the worst. They say 'security' or 'improvement' but half the time it's like they didn't even test it. If you got an old model, block the updates if you can. They aren't adding new features, just trying to make you upgrade.

Actually, updates often mess with non-OEM cartridges, 'cos printer companies hate that we don't buy their overpriced ink. Check if there's a rollback option on the manufacturer's website, sometimes they hide it but it's there. Worst case, try installing it as a generic printer in your OS settings, might lose some func but at least prints.
