EVERY software is a subscription now?!

I miss the good old days when u could just buy software and own it for life. Now it’s like 'join our exclusive subscription model' and 'PAY US FOREVER.' Need photoshop for one tiny edit every blue moon? That'll be a monthly fee, please. Can't I just OWN stuff anymore without signing away my firstborn for the 'privilege' of ACCESS? UGH.

Everyone's hating on subscriptions but think about the constant updates you get and cloud storage or whatever. Plus, piracy was killing these companies back then. Is it really that bad, or is it just the shock of change?

This subscription model is just the new normal. The financial security it offers companies is big - stable monthly income is better than sporadic purchases. It sucks for us, but from a business standpoint, it's gold. You'll have more luck with indie devs for non-subscription software.

lol gotta agree, it's pretty whack. just wanted to edit my dog's birthday pic and Adobe's like 'that'll be $29.99/month pls'. nah, miss me with that. gotta be better ways.

It's a scam I say. SCAM! They get us hooked on these essential tools then bam, fork over your money endlessly. I miss the days you buy it, you own it. Period. Now it’s like rent everything, own nothing. What’s next, pay per click? LOL

I ditched Adobe a year ago coz of their pricing. Found some one-time purchase alternatives that work pretty good. It's out there, just gotta dig around more now.

Man, I feel this post in my bones. Remember when you bought a game or an app and that was it? No updates, no hidden fees. These subscriptions are a total ripoff, especially when you barely use the software.

It's all about creating consistent revenue streams for the companies. Annoying for users, but it keeps their lights on. Still, it sucks for the occasional user. Sometimes I feel like they're milking us dry.

Ugh, tell me about it. I'm equally peeved by this trend. You might want to check out alternatives like GIMP for photo editing. Totally free and you do not have to deal with subscription nonsense!
