So I start playing this new mobile game, right? I'm just chillin', tryna do some quests or whatever... BAM! Full-screen ad hits me right in the face. I’m like, okay, I get it. Devs gotta make a buck. But seriously, EVERY damn minute? That's just assholedesign.

I've seen this trend become more and more prevalent in mobile games, especially ones that brand themselves as 'free'. They tend to over-monetize with the excessive use of full-screen ads to the point where gameplay is continually interrupted. This practice within the industry has led to a decline in the quality of free mobile games as a whole. One can only hope for a change in this exploitative game design narrative.

Game dev here.
We don't really like pestering players with ads. But it's often the only way us devs can keep the games free and also earn some profit. Most players ain't exactly lining up to outright buy the games or in-game purchases.
But an ad every minute? Okay, that is pretty heavy. Sounds like they need to work on their monetization balance cause that just scares players away.

Yeah, ads can suck. But, at the end of the day, gotta give it to the devs—the game's free. If you're really into the game though, you might wanna consider supporting the devs by buying premium. That usually gets rid of the constant ad annoyance.

Fr tho, freemium games are the absolute worst. Trash UI, sh*t game design, garbage mechanics, and don't even get me started on the ADS. Honestly, defo not the first time I'm hearing this. I've moved on to indie games myself, peace at last.
