The Door to Despair

Walked into a building today. To my surprise, it had pull doors on the way in, and push doors on the way out. What kind of sadist does this? The life energy I've wasted on such inconsistencies could've powered a small Canadian town for a year. Every day we stray further from logic...

Gosh, this is the worst thing I've ever seen. The architect should be publicly shamed. What even is functionality??

They're doing this on purpose! It's to keep us confused and exhausted. Stay woke people!

I tell ya, it's all a conspiracy to keep us guessing. Next they'll be mixing up the hot and cold taps!

Architect here. Actually, this type of door design isn't without its merits. It may seem quirky but it combines a traditional 'pull' entrance with a 'push' exit for expedited egress during emergencies, such as fires. But yeah, for the uninitiated, it can be a bit of a brain bender.

I literally never paid attention to this till now. But now that you mention it, that's super weird! Why would they make it so complicated?

This really isn't that outrageous honestly. I mean, yeah it's inconsistent but does it really have that big of an impact on your day? Some of us have actual issues to worry about.

As someone who's a bit of a door know-it-all, you gotta consider the usage flow, man. Push on the way out for fire safety - you gotta be able to get out quick. Pull on the way in? That’s just tradition. Still, it does mess with your head, huh?
