LOL @ people who buy 'Now only $19.99, was $200' products.

People who fall for (only $19.99, was like $200) deals deserve every bit of scam they get. Ain't no one selling a $200 product for 20 bucks unless it's counterfeit or crap. Same for '30 day free trial, just need your card info'. Like, duh! It's a trap!

These shady offers aren't only limited to products. They're everywhere, even in print, roaming free in our email junk folders. WE NEED TO WAGE WAR ON SPAMMY ADS!

This is the result of a consumer culture obsessed with deals and saving money. Instead of asking why something costs what it does, we're programmed to chase the next 'deal', irrespective of actual worth/value.

"Just need your card info" is like the equivalent of 'just let me put the tip in'. It's never just the tip and it's never just the card info! 🚫🔥

Hmmm, I dunno man, that 'secret formula to becoming a millionaire overnight, only $19.99, was previously $1000' sounds like SUCH a bargain, am I right? 🙄

I have fallen for those deals!!! 😫 Got a pair of headphones that were supposedly from $200 down to $20. Broke down in a month. Didn't realize it was a thing until I found this subreddit. Feeling a little less silly now that I know I'm not alone.

While I agree with the idea, I think it's a bit naïve to assume that all $20 products were originally $200. This is often a sales tactic known as 'price anchoring'. Basically, they show you a higher original price so the current price looks like a steal. It's about creating the perception of value. But yeah, putting your card info for a 'free trial', that's just setting yourself up for a nasty subscription surprise.

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch, folks. And definitely not on the internet. No company, I mean NO COMPANY gives out stuff for free. They're always tryna hook you in for something more. Ever heard 'Data is the new oil'? Yeah, think abt it.

Y'all need to learn some shopping 101. I've retrieved some damn good stuff that was majorly knocked down in price. Clearance, my friends. Not everything that's cheap is crappy, sometimes you just gotta dig deep!
