People who fall for (only $19.99, was like $200) deals deserve every bit of scam they get. Ain't no one selling a $200 product for 20 bucks unless it's counterfeit or crap. Same for '30 day free trial, just need your card info'. Like, duh! It's a trap!

I have fallen for those deals!!! 😫 Got a pair of headphones that were supposedly from $200 down to $20. Broke down in a month. Didn't realize it was a thing until I found this subreddit. Feeling a little less silly now that I know I'm not alone.

While I agree with the idea, I think it's a bit naïve to assume that all $20 products were originally $200. This is often a sales tactic known as 'price anchoring'. Basically, they show you a higher original price so the current price looks like a steal. It's about creating the perception of value. But yeah, putting your card info for a 'free trial', that's just setting yourself up for a nasty subscription surprise.

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch, folks. And definitely not on the internet. No company, I mean NO COMPANY gives out stuff for free. They're always tryna hook you in for something more. Ever heard 'Data is the new oil'? Yeah, think abt it.
