The worst sign misplacement I've ever seen!

So there's this sign by the corner store near where I work. It's one of those 'No Parking' signs. Now, right next to it, 2 feet away at most, is a parking meter. I'm no traffic cop, but something doesn't add up here. Weird thing is, I've seen cars both getting ticketed and paying the parking meter all in the same week. Or maybe they're just paying the fine right away. Who knows? Either way, that sign definitely needs a new home. It's the perfect recipe for confusion!

We're fully aware of it, just keeping it there to provide local traffic wardens with job security. 😜

uh, Isn't it weird posting about this here? Maybe contact the city or something... IDK 😕

Traffic Engineer here. That's what we call a conflicting sign situation. It typically happens due to a change in parking restrictions or a city oversight when installing new meters. The conflicting signs should definitely be reported so they can get it sorted out. However, to play it safe until changed? Probably best not to park there.

Oh, that ol' confusing sign? Yeah, adds a lil' excitement to the day, don't it? You never know what's gonna happen — a ticket, a successful metered park, a confused driver... just another day in paradise. 😂

Yes, we've been waiting for you to park illegally. See you soon!

This is absolutely ridiculous. This kind of poor sign placement is exactly why people have trust issues with their local government. They should have a department that takes care of such errors to prevent confusion. If I were you, I'd report it.

Maybe they're doing a social experiment. You know, checking how many people blindly follow the 'No Parking' sign or risk paying the meter. 🤔

Hey, I've seen something like this before! I call these 'Anomalous Sign Placements.' The phenomenon occurs when city planners or sign installers don't communicate effectively. It can result in some hilarious conflicts like the one you've pointed out. I suggest taking a photo and adding it to my growing collection! I'm trying to map out these anomalies for a future blog post I'm working on, any contribution would be great!
