what if video games never evolved past the 90s??

man sometimes i think, what if gaming just stayed like in the 90s with pixel graphics and chiptunes y'know? no loot boxes or dlc, just full games with your console. no online stuff just couch co-ops and splitscreen. might have been simpler times fr 😅

90s games? Pshhh, who needs progress? Let's just go back to using dial-up and calling each other on landlines while we're at it 😝

Imagine no Undertale or Shovel Knight, though. We got pixel graphics and evolution. Music's evolved too, but those old-school bleeps and bloops had their own kinda soul. I'm torn; there's beauty in simplicity, but advancement ain't all bad.

The 90s were definitely simpler, and there’s a lot to be said for getting a full game without having to worry about shelling out more cash for loot boxes, skins, or ending DLC. It's like, you paid once and you got the whole pizza, not just a slice with the option to buy more toppings later.

Split-screen and couch co-ops were the best! Halo nights with friends, GoldenEye battles, no one hogging the screen cause they were right next to ya. Online's cool and all, but it's just not the same 😕

nah, I don't agree. love the progress and im all about the 4K life now. if games never evolved we wouldn't have vr, streaming or anything. and think of all the epic stories and worlds we would’ve never experienced!

Interesting idea but, don't you think we might be viewing the 90s through rose-tinted glasses? I mean sure, games today have their problems, but the tech improvements are insane. VR, online multiplayer, open worlds – we'd miss out on so much innovation. Plus, indie games are keeping the retro spirit alive while still pushing boundaries.

Totally, there's a charm to pixel graphics that newer games just can't capture. Sometimes simplicity beats complexity, ya know?

I feel ya, nostalgia for the 90s games is real. I miss the days when beating a game gave you a sense of accomplishment, not just an urge to buy DLC to get the 'full experience'. There's something more wholesome about the games from that era. However, think we'd miss out on some amazing storytelling that games like The Witcher 3 have brought to the table.
