Saw a post earlier abt games we're still waiting on and got me thinking. If you could have any game, no matter how unrealistic, magically appear tomorrow, fully developed, bug-free, and as awesome as you've imagined, which one would it be? For me, its def the original vision for No Man's Sky. I just wanted to explore the universe with my pals :(

I dig these ideas! As someone trying to break into the game dev world, these are the kinds of projects that inspire me. My 'unrealistic' dream game would blend genres, like a city builder with the interpersonal character relationships of a dating sim, layered on top of a survival horror foundation. You'd build your safe haven during the day while at night… you'd fend off unspeakable horrors, all while trying to maintain relationships and not go insane. LOL, might be too ambitious, but one can dream.

A historically accurate Grand Strategy game set in any period, where you could experience running an empire or a small tribe with deep socio-political-economic systems in place. Diplomacy, espionage, trade, and war would be intricately designed to reflect the nuances of the era. Maybe even run it in real-time alongside actual history—you're playing out WW2, and D-Day is happening now. Could change history, or just try to survive it.

My dream game would be a full-on mecha simulator, something that merges the customizability of Armored Core, with the realism of a flight sim, but for giant robots. Pilots would have to balance power, heat, ammo, and weight for missions. Each part of the mech could take real-time damage affecting performance, not just an HP hit. And PvP? Tournaments that feel like you’re in a Gundam anime fighting for your nation's honor on a global stage. \m/

Imagine a game with the narrative depth of The Witcher, combined with Skyrim's open-world freedom, with a dash of Dark Souls' challenge. Oh, and totally VR compatible with like, haptic suits for full immersion. Quests wouldn't have any markers; you'd need to figure things out based on the environment and actual conversations with NPCs. And your actions? Life or death consequences for entire cities or NPC bloodlines. That’d be epic.

Oh, totally with you on that No Man's Sky's original goal. My dream game though? A Star Trek universe type of MMO where you can captain your own ship, explore uncharted systems, negotiate with alien races, or even join the Borg if you want. A game where philosophical decisions affect the galaxy-wide political landscape. It'd have a fully voiced script with branching storylines that genuinely react to player choices. Think Mass Effect on a universe scale with 100% player agency!
