Miss the days when games were just a dream

Anyone else just miss the days when we had less but somehow it felt like more? I feel like waiting for Star Citizen just took me back to daydreaming bout' games when I was a kid. Games that were all hype and no show, somehow their legends just... felt better, yknow?

When games were dreams, so were the bugs. Now we wake up to nightmares full of patches and hotfixes. Maybe we're just sleepwalking through game releases these days. WAKE UP SHEEPLE! 😂

Yea, I miss that excitement, the counting down days till release, imagining what it'll be like. Now we get games served in alpha/beta and play them to death b4 they even officially out. By the time launch comes, the magic's kinda gone :/

What's fascinating is how the collective longing for a yet-released title like Star Citizen creates a tapestry of stories, ideas, and aspirations shared among the community. It becomes a canvas where everyone can project their perfect game. The disappointment, if ever faced with reality, is that no game could live up to such diverse and grandiose expectations. It's that beautiful but unattainable dream which makes the era of vapourware so alluring to many of us.

Dude, I'm all about that retro life. Games now are cool and all, but nothing beats blowing into a cartridge and seeing that game start up after the 10th try. The anticipation u feel when u load up a game u waited for so long, it's like a taste of childhood again.

It's the chase man, always better than the catch haha. Game devs know that and they love to play along. I mean, trailers and concept art of Star Citizen practically feel like a genre of its own now.

Totally get you. Back in the day, we had these epic cover arts and wild game descriptions at the back of the boxes, and our imagination filled in the rest. Games today show too much even before release, killing that mystery and excitement.
