Rural broadband speeds are a joke!

Living in the sticks means I'm apparently not deserving of decent internet? Come on! It's 2023 and I'm dealing with speeds slower than my granny's mobility scooter. When will rural areas get some love?

I sympathize with you, truly. Having endured the sluggish pace of rural internet for the best part of a decade now, I too have wondered when the powers that be will deem us worthy of a modern service. Despite various initiatives and promises made by successive governments, we find ourselves in a state of perpetual lag, buffering, and frustration. One would think that as we forge ahead into an increasingly connected future, the disparity between urban and rural connectivity would narrow rather than widen.

I feel your pain. Tried watching a movie last night, it finished loading by the time I had my breakfast. At least I can start the sequel tonight, right?

Slower than granny's scooter? 😂 Maybe it's time to switch to carrier pigeons, my dude. Or just move to the city like the rest of us. Who even lives in the sticks these days?

This is exactly why we need to pressure local authorities more. The digital economy won't grow without equal access across the board. Sign petitions, bother your MP, make noise at council meetings. We've been silent about this digital inequality for too long.

Hang in there mate, the government has that 'Outside-In' approach for rural broadband, but no doubt it’ll take time. I heard some villages grouping together to get community funded solutions. Might be worth a look?

Internet? Luxury! My connection dropped more times than I've had hot dinners. Government investment where? Probably funnelling cash into cities while we're cut off from the world.

Have you looked into satellite broadband options? It's not perfect, but with Starlink and others stepping up, there might be a decent option for you soon. Latency's not great for gaming though, but should handle video calls and streaming alright.

Tell me about it. Living in Cumbria with internet speed I swear is powered by sheep on treadmills. MPs keep yapping about 'digital divide', yet here we are, might as well send pigeons with USB sticks.
