Just binged Money Heist in English and I'm conflicted

So, just finished La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) and I gotta say, the English dubbing was pretty spot-on in places, but some emotional scenes just felt less impactful than the OG Spanish. Still, it made me realize how dubs can open up shows to a wider audience. Thoughts?

Lol dubs are for noobs, if ur not watching in Spanish you're not really watching it at all. Go learn a real language 😂

Just here to enjoy my binge, don't care if it's dub or sub. If it's a good show, I'm watching it, easy as that.

Chiming in with my two cents: the art of dubbing is underrated. It's a challenging task to blend voice with existing characters in a way that resonates across cultures. La Casa de Papel does a decent job, all things considered. It’s a delicate balance of reaching an international audience without diluting the authenticity of the performances. Yes, originals tend to have the emotional edge, but let's appreciate the work voice actors put in to bring these shows to non-Spanish speakers.

Yeah, dubs help but nothing beats the original. Still, I ain't learning Spanish just to watch La Casa de Papel, so English it is haha.

No way, the original audio all the way. You lose all the character's real emotions with dubs. How can you even compare?? Subs > Dubs always!

I try to watch shows in their original language when I can, feel like it helps me learn. But you're right about dubs making shows more accessible. My mom only watches English dubs cuz she can't keep up with the subs. I think most emotional scenes hit different in the OG language, but tbh sometimes it's just nice to not have to read and chill, you know?

Dubs can be hit or miss for sure, but it's a crazy difficult job to keep the original vibe in a whole new language. Also, dubbing actors sometimes work under super tight schedules. I think it's worth watching in the original Spanish if possible, with subtitles to really get the full effect. But yeah, English dubs aren't bad for a more casual watch.
