Series that are too long to binge?

Ok, so during lockdown I've binged a LOT. But some series are just... daunting. Like 'Supernatural' with its 15 seasons, each with 20+ episodes. I wanna start, but man, that's a serious commitment.

Anyone else intimidated by these long series? Got any strategies for tackling them or should I just watch something shorter?

You think that's bad? Try following a show AND keeping up with the massive amount of fanfics it spawns! I write and read 'Supernatural' fics, and let me tell you, it's a full-time job. But honestly, there's a reason these long series get such big fandoms. They create worlds that you just want to keep coming back to. Dive in, find your favorite characters, and if watching gets too much, join the fandom! You'll get the story and so much more from fans like me 😜

The trick is to not see it as a challenge but an adventure! I was hesitant to start 'One Piece' cause the episode count was wild, but once I did, oh boy, I went through them like crazy. Just go at your own pace and enjoy the ride. Take breaks with shorter shows if you must, and before you know it, you'll be waiting for the newest episode like the rest of us 😆

If ur looking for something less intimidating, maybe try some mini-series? I was looking at Supernatural too but went for ‘Chernobyl’ instead. Only 5 eps and done in a weekend.

Analytically speaking, long series offer a unique narrative depth that shorter series may lack. The viewer’s commitment results in a more profound attachment to characters and overarching storylines. To efficiently tackle such a series, consider watching key episodes that advance the major plot or character arcs, though this does yield an incomplete experience. Websites like Reddit and specialized fan forums often provide lists of these pivotal episodes, constructed by the community.

Don't be scared to dive in! I started 'Supernatural' thinking the same, but here’s the trick: treat each season like its own series. You get closure with season finales so it’s like a mini-break before u decide to jump into the next. Plus, it kinda becomes a part of ur daily routine, and before u know it, you'll be attached to the characters and actually look forward to what's next.

I totally get you, 'Supernatural' is like climbing a TV mountain lol. I've been watching it on & off for a year now and just reached season 10. My tip? Don't rush it, maybe watch an episode or two a day and mix in other shows to keep it fresh. Long shows need a long-game approach, kinda like savoring a good book!
