Can we talk about political dramas and comedies? I'm here to chill, not get a sermon. Every show I tune into these days ends up spoon-feeding me the 'morally right' stance on matters.
I miss when TV was about storytelling rather than moralizing. No nuance, just black and white. No character complexity, just good guys championing 'the cause' and bad guys being, well, bad. Entertainment should be an escape, not an extension of the evening news.

I've been binging old series for this reason. Some new political dramas are okay, but the older ones had that subtlety. You know, they actually made you think instead of telling you what to think. I get that art reflects society and yada yada, but I miss the guessing game of figuring out a character’s motives.

So sick of the soapbox moments in every show. Can't we have one series where they don't push an agenda? The quality of writing has gone down the tubes because they’re too busy trying to win brownie points on social media. Bring back the good old days where the story was king!

As someone trying to break into the industry, it’s a tough balance. Audiences are looking for more than just entertainment – they want shows that resonate with their values. Sometimes that means taking a clear stance. There’s a market for that, which is why we're seeing so much of it.

I think this trend reflects the polarized state of actual politics. Writers are either playing it safe by sticking to popular opinions or they're genuinely trying to influence the audience. But the real art lies in presenting issues without taking sides, and letting viewers make up their own minds.

Totally agree, shows used to be about getting lost in a good story. Now it’s like you can’t watch without getting a lecture. What happened to shows like 'The Twilight Zone'? That was storytelling with a side of social commentary, not the other way round!
