DIY Why Writer Computer

Finally finished crafting a DIY Why Writer for my 4yo!!! Took some cardboard, paint, and a few old buttons and BOOM. She's loving typing away pretending to solve mysteries like Super Why. Highly recommend doing crafts like these, totally worth the smiles and education!

Lol, that's genius! Wish I could get my kids into crafts like that. They barely sit still for a minute 😆 Maybe I'll give this a try... if I can find the energy on a weekend.

As an early childhood educator, I applaud your creativity! It's fantastic to create hands-on learning experiences that engage children in play while also encouraging literacy development. By 'typing' and 'solving mysteries', your child is practicing problem-solving and critical thinking. Great job!

Yeah because what the world needs is more kids pretending to work on computers, they'll have enough of that when they grow up 😂 But hey, if it keeps them happy and learning, why not.

Cool project! Have you considered adding some tech to it? Like maybe a Raspberry Pi with a simple program to mimic actual typing. It could display letters on a screen as your child 'types' them. If you're interested, I can dig up some resources that could help you get started!

I'm new to this sub but I love this! I used to watch Super Why with my nephews and they would've flipped for a Why Writer! You've just given me a brilliant idea for my niece's upcoming birthday. Thanks for sharing!

This is such an inspiring idea! I've been trying to find ways to get my little one away from the screen, and this is just perfect. How long did it take you to make it? And did you use anything special to get the buttons to 'click'?

OMG that sounds adorable!! Would you mind sharing some pics or a little tutorial? I'd love to make one for my kiddo but I'm not super crafty, so I need all the help I can get 😅
