Optimal Route for Darker Side Speedrunning

Hey speedrunners, after countless runs I've tweaked an optimal route for Darker Side.

Make sure to grab the key behind the moving wall ASAP using a long jump. For the flower road, skip the extra heart; not worth your time. When you reach the flicking fork part, it's all about rhythm - flick, dive, and bounce on your hat.

For the Mechawiggler, cap throw and dive on its head, then ground pound. Remember, no checkpoints. Taking one will mess with the moon gravity at the end. The final lava bubble section can be cheesed with a well-timed jump from the frying pan.

If you nail this, sub-35 is within reach. Good luck, and keep on running!

Pro tip: You can actually skip the roll cancel by throwing your cap and diving onto it, then jumping again. Saves a split second but it's super risk-reward. Might not be reliable for everyone, but worth trying if you're looking to break records.

This is really helpful, thanks! Just started speedrunning Darker Side and this is gold. Still getting the hang of avoiding checkpoints, though. Messed up the gravity thing a couple of times already 😅

Lol, why even bother? Just play the game like a normal person and enjoy the view. You're all missing the POINT of Odyssey with this speedrunning nonsense.

Nice route! I gotta admit, I always go for the extra heart - peace of mind, y'know? Lol. But I can see how skipping it makes sense for speedrunning. Gonna try your strat next time!

That's a pretty good route you've got there. A tip for others reading: during the Mechawiggler section, if you time your jumps just right, you can skip a portion of its body, landing directly on the head for the final pound. It's tricky but doable with practice. Also, in the beginning, you can roll cancel off the first ledge to bypass the need for a long jump altogether, saving precious frames. Keep refining and keep us posted!

Sub-35, huh? Those are rookie numbers 😏 Gotta push for that sub-30 my dude. Btw, for the Mechawiggler, you can actually cap jump off the small antennae to save like half a second each leap. Every millisecond counts!

Whoa, this is solid! Been struggling with the rhythm on the fork flicking, but this dive and bounce on the cap idea sounds promising. Gonna try this out, hope to shave off a few seconds thanks to your tips!
