Yoshi's Island Appreciation Post

Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the beauty of Yoshi's Island? The graphics were ahead of its time, and that soundtrack is just mwah! Anyone else here thinks Yoshi's Island doesn't get the love it deserves?

The attention to musical detail in Yoshi's Island is something else. Each piece perfectly captures the essence of the levels. Someone here mentioned the 'Athletic' theme, but what about the castle theme? That intensity had my heart racing every time. 10/10 soundtrack.

Yoshi's Island? More like Baby Mario's Crying Simulator 1995, amirite? 😂 But nah, for real, the game's all right. Just make sure you got your mute button ready.

When you compare it to other games of the era, Yoshi's Island was like a breath of fresh air. Those pre-rendered graphics games tried to be all 'cool' and that but Yoshi stuck to its roots and still looked epic. Let's talk enemy design too – Raphael the Raven boss fight, on the moon?! Epic.

Pls, Yoshi's Island is criminally underrated. That mechanic of throwing eggs? Revolutionary. I had hours of fun with just that. And nobody talks about the touching ending, gets me every time :')

Yoshi's Island, now that's a masterpiece. It's like the devs took everything that worked with the platform genre and dialed it up to 11. The Super FX chip made those graphical effects pop, and the soundtrack! Koji Kondo is a legend, but I've got to mention the 'Athletic' theme - that track alone is a reason to love the whole game!

idk, guys, it's not that I don't see the appeal, but haven't we moved past sprite-based graphics? I tried it and couldn't get into it. Maybe just not for everyone 🤷.

The level design was absolutely genius too, not just the graphics and music! Does anyone else remember just spending hours trying to get all the red coins and flowers?

Totally agree with you there. Yoshi's Island was my entire childhood! The art style holds up even today, so charming with all the pastel colors and that hand-drawn look. They sure don't make 'em like this anymore.
