Hey peeps, I totally ran out of dish soap and it’s late, stores are closed. I have some bleach. So like, is it safe to clean my dishes using bleach? Responses ASAP please.

Bleach on dishes? That’s a big no-no for me! Soap residues can end up in your food and bleach is even more dangerous. Curries, lasagnas, anything with strong seasoning can act as a cleaning agent! Worst comes to worst, eat with your hands — we were doing it for millennia before cutlery came along.

Bleach? Mate, are you planning dinner or a science experiment gone wrong? 😜 Use hot water and bicarb tonight, promise you won't die of dirty dish syndrome.

So I've faced this issue before, and I found an alternative solution: Baking Soda! You can use it to clean your dishes until you can get dish soap again. It's abrasive enough to clear off any stuck food but safe for your dishes. And it's non-toxic 👍 Just rinse well! Bleach should really only be used as a last resort.

Been living minimal for years now. You'd be amazed at what you can clean with just hot water and a good old scrub. Stick to that for tonight, and grab some soap when you can.

lol why not go full MacGyver and create your own dish soap? Oil + baking soda = homemade dish soap. Survival skills 101 😂

Food safety professional here. It's not the best solution, but in an emergency, it can be done. The key is dilution and rinsing. The recommended ratio is one teaspoon of bleach for one gallon of water. Make sure you rinse your dishes thoroughly after washing them with this solution. However, this should only be a last resort. Always prioritize using products specifically designed for cleaning dishes. And don't forget to stock up once the stores are open again!

Definitely dilute it first!! Bleach (sodium hypochlorite) is a powerful oxidizing agent and if concentrated it can corrode your dishes or harm if ingested. If you dilute it (1 teaspoon per gallon of water should do), it can serve as a substitute for dish soap in an emergency. Rinse thoroughly. And please, buy dish soap first thing tomorrow.

Dude, been there!! def not ideal, but u can manage. Dilute a spoon of bleach into a gallon of water, do a quick wash, then RINSE WELL. Not your everyday solution tho, get that soap ASAP.
