Okay, hear me out guys. So last night I wanted to cook pasta but I was too lazy to wait for the water to boil. So I just soaked the pasta in water and left it there while I was watching Netflix. After about an hour I returned and find out that the pastas has softened and expanded quite a bit. I then tossed it to the frying pan with some sauce and voilà, it’s ready to eat. It wasnt Al dente, but hey, it's edible and tastes pretty good. Perfect for lazy nights!

This is actually not as unusual as it sounds. From a science point of view, soaking pasta in water will make it absorb moisture and soften. The longer you leave it, the softer it will get. You essentially rehydrated the pasta without applying heat. This method can take a while though, hence why boiling is preferred as it speeds up the process. If you want to speed up your lazy pasta, try using hot tap water to soak your pasta in. This can reduce the soaking time considerably. But do remember, for the best pasta you should still boil it!
