Job Market in Sheffield for recent grads?

Just finished my degree (whew!) and started the daunting job hunt. Any fellow recent grads struggling out here? Feel like it's a bit of a nightmare finding something in my field (marketing). Anyone got any tips or know places that are hiring? Cheers!

Just throwing this out there, but have you considered entrepreneurship? It's a great way to create your own opportunity. Plus, there's a decent startup scene in Sheffield. Could be worth exploring if you're not finding the right fit in existing companies.

Marketing? Just make a viral meme and you'll get all the jobs, easy peasy. LOL. But seriously, did you even check Indeed or Glassdoor, or just waiting for something to fall in your lap? 🤡

Welcome to the 'I've got a degree, now what?' club. How's your LinkedIn game? Make sure your profile's up to scratch and start connecting with anyone and everyone. Sheffield's not the biggest pond, but the right gig's out there. Also, talk to the career advisors at the uni, sometimes they know of opportunities not advertised elsewhere.

Hmm, have you considered freelance work? Sites like Upwork or Fiverr can be places to start. Competition is stiff but you can get some experience and bucks while searching for something more stable. Keep your chin up!

Ugh, tell me about it... feels like I've applied to a million places and nada. Don't suppose you've got any leads? 😣

Graduated last year and felt exactly the same. Found my current marketing job through a uni contact. Go to the alumni events and use the career service while you still can - they're seriously underused resources.

In marketing myself, 5 years in. Look for networking events via the Sheffield Digital or the Chamber of Commerce. Getting your name and face out can really make a difference. Also, consider doing some free/low-cost freelance work to build a more solid portfolio - it helps!

Ayy, congrats on graduating! Marketing's tough in Sheff right now, not gonna lie. It's the same in most places though, 'specially for new grads. Have you tried looking at opportunities with smaller companies, or even startups? They sometimes don't post on big job sites, so might be worth doing some LinkedIn outreach.
