An in-depth analysis of Squatty Potty

The Squatty Potty, a bathroom step stool that seems laughably simple, bagged a deal on Shark Tank and has since claimed to revolutionise our bathrooms. Here’s my detailed analysis.

In principle, the Squatty Potty operates on the grounds that a squatting position facilitates a smoother, faster bowel movement. This is based on the logic that it aligns the anorectal angle allowing for a clear passageway. While sounding promising in understanding, remember this: there's no comprehensive study backing it up.

As for the product design, it is relatively unobtrusive. It can conveniently be stored under most toilet seats, but it does lack in aesthetic appeal. The basic model is crafted solely of plastic, so durability can be a concern with heavy usage.

In terms of the price-performance ratio, the Squatty Potty is relatively expensive for what it is - a bathroom stool. You can find similar products online or even hack your own for a fraction of the cost.

In conclusion, while the Squatty Potty might be of help to someone with chronic constipation or similar gastrointestinal issues, for average consumers the benefits may not justify the cost.

Seriously? A stool to help you poop was funded on Shark Tank and made millions of dollars? Now I feel like I've seen everything in life.

Honestly, a simple IKEA step stool can do the same job as a Squatty Potty for a fraction of the cost. Why shell out extra bucks for a plastic piece that essentially does the same thing? Classic Shark Tank absurdity if you ask me.

LOL why does anyone need a Squatty Potty? Just go poop in the woods like a real caveman, problem solved. 🌳💩

Gastroenterologist here. The concept behind the Squatty Potty does have roots in our ancestral way of...well, doing our business. Lowering the knees above the hips can indeed help straighten the anorectal angle. While it may not revolutionize everyone's bathroom experience, it can be of particular help for individuals with chronic constipation.

I know it sounds weird and to be honest I was pretty skeptical about buying one, but mate, lemme tell ya, this stool has changed my life. I have had issues with constipation and hemorrhoids for a long time, and this stool actually helped quite a bit. Maybe it's placebo, maybe not – but it worked for me.

I definitely agree with your assessment. $25 for a piece of plastic that helps you poo? Hahaha, seems like a total ripoff to me. I could just stack up my old unread New Yorkers for the same effect. It's unbelievable what kind of ideas make money these days. 🙄
